A big thanks to Eric Spikes for providing a cool picture of the Air Refinery. This photo provides a different camera angle of the toy and provides some new details that I’ve never seen before!
First off, it obviously lacks any color so I wonder if the one we’ve all seen was painted or if this was an earlier model. If a different model, that means there’s two of these somewhere out there, just waiting to be found (hopefully)!
Second, we get some different shots of some details inside both the towers and the gun platforms. And that gun turret on the left seems to be able to elevate itself (see below). Pretty cool!
It also answers the mystery of what was on top of that tower. I wasn’t sure if it was a pump or some other accessory like a death ray cannon or sensor array. Turns out it’s a station a figure can sit in! And according to the illustration below, it’s a missile launcher.
Lastly, WHO are these guys?
They are unlike any prototype I’ve seen so far. I wonder if these were VERY early figures. They have some of the Tyrant features like the purple/grey coloring and the conquistador style helmet but the white one appears to have a mohawk or crest on top of his helmet along with a visor slit for his eyes.
Great find!
